We don’t think there’s a need to sum up 2020. But if we really had to — it’s uncertainty and chaos caused by the coronavirus pandemic. It made us wonder about the importance of our health, cherish our closest ones and never take any moments outdoors for granted. 🤗
Apart from the negative aspects — we became more aware of the small things we can do for our physical and mental health. We know what vitamins to take, we try to exercise consistently and by the end of the year — we are the experts on proper hand washing techniques. 💦
We spent the whole year of 2020 perfecting small acts that benefit our health. What if we did the same with financial health in 2021?
Nothing is certain, and the current financial instability in the world only proves that financial wellbeing will need to be our focus in the upcoming year.

Set Small & Timely Goals ⏰
In order to work towards your ultimate goal for 2021, set small financial goals that you can follow and review daily, weekly or monthly. We are bringing you some ideas: it’s up to you which ones you would like to follow.
👉🏼 Tip 1: Put these daily goals as recurrent actions in your to-do list or a calendar. This way, you won’t forget to check them out when needed!
👉🏼 Tip 2: Make the goals measurable. If the idea is to eat a home-cooked meal everyday, make it a habit for x times per week or create a reverse habit: only eat out 1 time a week.
🗓 Daily Steps
💡Track every expense right away. Use Spendee everyday to keep track of your finances! If you prefer being stress-free, connect all of your bank accounts to our Premium version and relax — we’ll do everything for you.
💡Save on food. Food is the biggest variable of all of our expenses. Reduce eating out spendings and follow our grocery saving tips.
🗓 Weekly Steps
💡Follow a weekly budget. Some expenses are better handled with a weekly budget instead of a monthly budget. If you’re not sure how to start, check out our Article on Weekly Budgeting.
💡Work on a side project. Determine a set number of hours to work on your side project. It can be your new business, passive income or even investing. Even though you might still be working on your emergency fund, you can use this time to gain valuable information to help you start when ready!
💡Have at least one no-spend day. This can be great to practice patience and mindful financial planning!
💡Dedicate time to learn. Listen to a financial podcast on your way to work, or dive in a book.
💡Don’t make spontaneous purchases. We’re not talking about that one croissant on your way to work, rather bigger expenses that we tend to buy impulsively. Make a promise to yourself that you will think through whatever “extra” you want to buy for at least a week.
🗓 Monthly Steps
💡Follow a monthly budget and aim for positive cash flow. We have created this article for you to make it 100% easier!
💡Save 20% of your net income. And make a habit of doing so right away after receiving your salary! Make no excuses to do so and start building your emergency fund of 6 months or your investment portfolio.
💡Focus on regular maintenance. It’s easier to take care of what you have than paying unnecessary bills for repair. Set a monthly schedule to take care of different parts of your life: healthcare, house or car. These regular small checks will make sure you avoid bigger purchases in the future!
